Libya – Lies and Cover-Up

Libya – Lies and Cover-Up

There has been a lot of confusion surrounding the recent attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya. What we were first told was the result of a homemade anti-Islamic video produced by some American college students turned out to be more military blow-back from the War on Terror.

For two weeks, the US administration sold the idea that this was just a sporadic event stemming from a protest against the video, but it soon became obvious that something wasn’t right about the official story -something was being covered-up. Obviously, shaky/sketchy foreign policy built on lies and deception is not going to hold-up during campaign season.

Tensions are high for this election -there’s been a lot of pressure on President Obama to keep his peace face as one of the most widely covered Presidents in media history. Of course, the man has most of the media in his pocket, but the unavoidable issue with the attack on the consulate made its way to the messy stage. Many democrats blamed the Republicans for “making this an issue” and accused them of “politicizing the event” during the campaign…. seriously… wtf?

Aside from the obvious foreign policy deception, e-mails recently came to light that paint a far more ridiculous picture in Libya. In the effort to get American soldiers off the ground in the middle east (replacing them with heavily armed drone planes), ground security for the consulate in Benghazi had been contracted out to a group who call themselves the 17th of February Martyrs Brigade… the interesting thing is that the group who is responsible for the attack on the consulate, Ansar al-Sharia, came from the 17th of February Martyrs Brigade… and  they’re all associated with Al-Qaeda… talk about foreign policy failure…

Personally, I have no more faith in anyone else to handle this -I do not vote, myself. I’m just astonished at how this is being reported, and how more people aren’t really curious about what exactly is going on, here.
